The purpose of the development plan is to facilitate planning, feedback and support during the probationary
period. Each development plan has an annual component, and a long-term (five year) component. The
annual component should be completed each year. The long-term component should be completed at the
beginning of the development process, and may be modified as appropriate on an annual basis. In addition
to these annual reviews, it is expected that the academic unit will undertake a separate review process in the
third year to give the faculty member feedback on whether s/he is on-track for promotion and tenure
purposes.
